- Trentham Gardens
1st August 2009
Alan Collinson, Bev Ramsbottom, Trevor Edwards, Alan Ellicott, Carole Ellicott and Dave Robson were invited to provide demonstrations and workshops at these lovely gardens near Stoke on Trent. It was a fairly miserable day weather-wise but we had tremendous fun "capturing" the odd visitor and extolling the virtues of bodhran playing.
Above is a group of pupils under the tuition of Alan Collinson.
A picture that we didn't get was of Alan Ellicott slipping on the wet grass and letting go of his drum only to see it roll into the Trentham lake. Alan followed at a fast pace and managed to retrieve the £400 drum but got quite wet in the process. His drum is not his most prized asset but comes a close third behind his wife and his boat. Carole may not agree with the precise order!!
- Welsh National Eisteddfod August 5th 2009
Curiad were honoured to give a performance this year. We will be posting photos and youtube videos on this site at a later date.

- Bodhrán Beat 2008 Workshops
29th March 2008
Alan Collinson, Bev Ramsbottom, Alan Ellicott and Carole Ellicott went to the workshops at Edinburgh this year. Having been twice before, they were not disappointed. It is a two day affair with workshops on both days and an excellent concert on the Saturday night. This year the tutors were Junior Davey, Siobhán O'Donnell, Aimee Leonard, Johnny McDonagh and Jimmy Higgins.
We had a really great time. If anyone wants to attend future

- Craiceann Inis Óirr 2008
23rd to 27th June
Every year a few of the group go to the Arran Islands off Galway to attend a workshop for a week. Alan Collinson has been going for a good few years (see his Craiceann photograph albums on Craiceann ) and Dilys went last year. This is the first time that Alan and Carole are making the trip and they are really looking forward to it. All the best tutors will be there and it will be thrilling and exhausting. The workshops take place on Inis Oírr which featured in the opening titles from Father Ted (Craggy Island).
We spend the whole week playing the bodhran, drinking Guiness
and sleeping (occasionally). Remember to book a holiday after the event for recovery purposes.
It is for children and young adults too, even if they haven't quite got the taste for Guinness yet.
As well as the serious aspect of learning, it is a great week for all those Bodhran enthusiasts whatever your age or level of experience.
- Trip to Galway Spring 2009
Alan Collinson, Dill, Bev, Dave, Trevor and Jay decided to spend a long weekend on the west coast of Ireland as a bit of a recompense for not being able to go to Bodhran Beat this year. They had a great time and met with Jimmy Higgins and Johnny Ringo who are two of Curiads heros.
- Craiceann
Inis Óirr 2009
22nd to 26th June
Members of the group travelled again to the Arran Islands. This year it was Alan, Dill and Heather and they all had a fantastic time. One major improvement was the weather. The workshops, the sessions, the comradeship and the Guiness was as good as ever.
